The Fresno Juneteenth Committee envisions a festive celebration that transcends time while honoring our resilience, historical significance, and cultural pride — expressed through the aroma’s of southern soul food and traditional African foods, beating of drums, music, dance, and art.

Our vision is to inspire generations and foster an inclusive space where the spirit of freedom and equality thrives as we forge a legacy of unity that recognizes the past and propels us toward a future of shared prosperity, justice, and cultural harmony.

The Fresno Juneteenth Committee is a dedicated group of community members bringing local communities together through diverse media to observe, educate and celebrate the day the last African slaves were freed in America, and to develop a society that promotes equality for all — for generations to come.

The Freedom Groups is bringing you another invigorating and exciting celebration. The Fresno 2025 Annual Juneteenth Experience! This year’s theme is “Freedom Amplified“. The 4-days of education, fun, music, food, and dance will serve to recognize the importance of an equitable country for all Americans.

Juneteenth is the African American’s addendum to Independence Day. It is a nationally recognized and celebrated holiday which commemorates the notification of the Emancipation Proclamation to Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865 that freed some of the last slaves in America. The Fresno community has been celebrating this historical event for over 30 years.

This years’ observance is expected to attract over 10,000 community members, who will enjoy the festivities which include a parade, performances, inspirational speakers, workshops and tasty soul food. In addition, there will be a variety educational institutions, apparel vendors, community based non-profits and a kid zone. So come on downtown to the Convention Center and have an enjoyable time with us.
